Scholarly Journals and Textbooks

So many of my college classes concluded with a scholarly article suitable for publication. It was usually making some scholarly point in comparing this and that. As someone who has had to grade more than my share of journal articles, please not it is not all about the format. The format IS crucial. You do have to write in whatever format is expected of you. But more than that, you also have to BE INTERESTING.

This actually goes for textbook too. If you're writing a textbook, BE INTERESTING. But it is not merely about being interesting. You have to present a textbook in a form which can be studied--and studied by the appropriate target group. This includes all kinds of specific organization, planned headings, questioning within the text, questions after the chapters, study material, glossaries.
